Games I never purchased suddenly appear in my steam library?
I'm not sure what's going on with this, but a lot of games are in my library that I'm certain I never downloaded, as 99% of them I've never heard of before, and they date back to March, April, May of 2020.

When I check account licenses, most of these new games in my library are marked "Complimentary", and many, but not all, have in them "Free Promotional".

I have never done a family share of my library, or shared my account in any way before, so the only 2 possibilities I can think of is:
1. Account was hacked.
or
2. Steam auto downloaded these (given the "free promotional") which could explain why i was never notified. (if this is the case, can someone tell me how to disable this from happening again? i don't wanna have a heart attack thinking i was hacked)

One of the games though, dating back to May 1st 2020 is Heroes of Hammerwatch and unlike the others it's marked "Gift/Guest pass" - Which i'm not sure how to explain either as this one doesn't have any "Free promotional" marking. and I know no friends have given me gifts.

Anyone got ideas what all this could be?
I already changed passwords before anyone suggests it.

Store = You bought game/DLC

Retail = Redeem key for paid game/DLC.

Gift/guess = Gift redeem.

Complimentary = Free game/dlc redeem.

So if they're all complimentary then you may have redeem them, and forgotten about them at some point.

If you believe someone on account then changing password, and revoking devices, if you happen to use same password for anything, I suggest change it for that as well.

You can check your login history under Steam support section my account > data about my account > search for login history.

Publishers occasionally give away free Steam games. When Face Shooter 2023 is released, sometimes the publisher makes Face Shooter 2018 free to keep for a few days as a publicity stunt. All you have to do is click on "add this game to your library", and it's permanently added and marked as "complimentary".

I own around 150 games on Steam, but I got probably 100 games from bundles and another 20 for free. I've never heard of half of the games in my library, and sometimes I wonder how they got there when I'm scrolling through the list. Then I remember I was bored and added them years ago when they were free.

None of the games I downloaded and i'm certain of it, i did consider if i forgot but there was too many for me to forget, on top of the fact 99% of the titles i've never heard of before. I did already change my passwords just incase, but yeah.

I've heard some friends suggest that cause many of the games were marked "promotional" that steam may have auto downloaded it? which i'm confused about if so, is this true? does anyone ever have some games appear in their inventory simply cause they were promotionals given out for free? cause again just about all of them were marked both complimentary, AND "free promotional 2020" or something like that.

However I got these, they weren't added by me, hence me thinking, either my account was compromised, or steam added them. But even stranger I don't think they were there months ago despite them showing in my licenses as being added in 2020. Many of the games also weren't free when i went to the store page.

Nope, all games, no dlc.
(Replied more to others reiterating some of the details)
