steamwebhelper.exe, a critical Steam component, is not responding.
My steam won't start, it just shows a black screen and then crashes. I'm unable to do anything

I am having the same issue as well. I've even done a fresh install of steam and nothing is fixed.

Same here. It's happening on my Windows laptop but my Linux desktop is running just fine. I've even reinstalled Steam, updated GPU drivers, etc on the laptop to no avail.

Just found a fix for me. As soon as I disabled my antivirus (Bitdefender; and really that should have been the first thing I tried) steam opened up immediately. Hope this helps you guys.

I am using BitDefender also, but I just found a fix -

open CMD, CD to your Steam install (like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam), and type

steam.exe -vgui

Did you try disabling real time protection? Its in Protection>Antivirus>Advanced>Bitdefender Shield

I found a fix as well!

Just go into bitdefender, manage all exceptions, and add the steam folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam in my case)

no issues now!
