games missing from library

i had a game called Battlebit Remastered playtest in my library and played it a ton since the start of this year (2023) and recently it just dissapeared from my library without a trace, with some research i realized that battlebit is not going to be free and is now paid,but im not sure how a game just dissapears and i dont own it anymore and also what happens when a free game thats in your library goes paid.
