How can i hide the big picture button in the corner top right?
Because sometimes i push it by error, and it's very frustrating. Thanks

You used to be able to but they removed the option. Did they move it somewhere else? What a HORRIBLE design. Please tell me there is another way to remove or disable it? Everyone hits this dumb button and then has a hard time just getting out of it. BAD BUTTON IS BAD AND WHOEVER PUT IT THERE SHOULD FEEL BAD. I feel a little better now.

1. Pay attention. Look where your cursor is before clicking.
2. View > Small Mode. The Big Picture (BPM) button isn't there in Small Mode.

I shared instructions on how to remove the BPM link from the "View" menu here. I haven't found where the code is that produces the icon in Large Mode.

Edit: I found a way to disable the button but it only disables it, a ghost of the button image is still there.

1. Open steamrootdialog.layout in <steam>\resource\layout
Note: This is where the Steam Client is installed. Not where your games are installed.
I suggest using Notepad++[notepad-plus-plus.org]

2. REM lines 5 through 11:
Change:
"fullscreen" { "ControlName" "Button" style="FullscreenButton" command="fullscreen" tooltiptext="#tooltip_view_fullscreen" }

To:
// "fullscreen" // { // "ControlName" "Button" // style="FullscreenButton" // command="fullscreen" // tooltiptext="#tooltip_view_fullscreen" // }

It doesn't seem too well known that before the new UI released in June this year we were able to create custom skins for the Client. https://www.pcgamer.com/the-best-steam-skins/
The kinds of edits I shared above are part of what we're allowed to do.

We must disable the updater as the these instructions I linked suggest. Otherwise when we shut down and restart Steam these files are made default again. The link in the "View" menu is back and the button works again, or we have to do the edit again.
