Steam client doesn't resume download
Hi there,

I’m hugely embarrassed by what I’ve done, causing me to possibly loose 5 days+nights of download (BG3).

What I did was:
- reboot my rig without closing steam client, when downloading (62 GB/100 GB)

Now, steam client won’t resume on the ground « not enough disk space » (60 GB only, indeed).

But disk space was plenty enough before downloading, steam client just doesn’t see the historical data anymore.

Here is the situation now:
- E:/Steam/steamapps/downloading: I have a 125 GB folder there, named 1086940 with some Baldur Gate 3 files. I assume 1086940 is the steam UID for BG3
- seems like steam client knows of this E: destination as it points the game to it
- there are a number of .patch files in downloading as well which a time stamp from when I rebooted

Does anyone have any advise how to resume the download from where I left it ? I understand I could just wipe out out the downloading folder and restart fresh, but I would really avoid writing off 5X24H of download !

Any advise highly appreciated !

PS: no fiber at my place, and DSL is limited to 2.4 Mbps by technology and distance to the POP

Can you please ask steam suggestion for better resume option, i dont need to explan modem and DSL to steam they know this from the past. ( this is know as crash power cut or whatever it do so you vcan resume dl later, and they can call it validate and other smart words, all ppl from the past know this from DL server.

I tried, in steam "repair folder" towards E:. It went quick.
125 GB of data disappeared (yep, the downloading folder :).

Now it is resuming OK ... at 0 %. FFS, steam !

ask steam for bert recovery dl mode if we can call it that, if you think brownout is rare i can tell you diffrent, if all use power on same time its can happend, and thats my point no matter of what all the btight head think and say, even in denmark, sweden had a powerout , what ever this is a human mistake or not, some smart ass butt head in denmark told this cant happend here, a few week later a little area had a issue, so my point is powercut can be seen as rare, but it aient.
any over user own fusebox owner know this, start micro and plasama and water cooker and stove , and most have seen this before, problem is sure its user mistake, such was dl server posible in the past resume better then it recheck DL content. as temp save file.

as i said and other helper here know, such was the way in the past.
just because we know this, dont mean steam want to do it.

and the so call energy crise, depend on users could actual cause power outage, and steam might want to rethink that strategic.

im sure the other helper also know this. its been in telly even.
