Need help: Steam Link for Apple TV freezing on startup

tvOS 16.6, Steam Link 1.2.0, M1 Macbook Air

when I press "Start Playing" button on Steam Link app the Apple TV stalls out on the startup screen with the "tip" and the spinning wheel (which keeps spinning). The game opens on my Macbook screen with no sound and seems to run. the Steam link app tells me I have a good connection (100Mb/s) when I run the test before I try playing a game. After I try to "start playing" a game and get the spinning wheel if I exit from Steam Link app on Apple TV and then go back in the wheel is frozen and then the app crashes. If I reopen app it tells me that i have a slow connection until i run the network test again. I've tried deleting and reinstalling app and restarting Apple TV.

I have no idea what is going on and am kind of dumb when it comes to computers, any help would be appreciated!

Alright, I've tried many things tonight in the settings, but just try to start the streaming after having opened Steam in Big Picture Mode on your Mac. This worked for me, but no sound at all. I'll try to fin a solution.
