blank icons

hello so it's been a while that all my steam icon became blank and after doing everything recommended by the support and internet nothing changed . i went in /steam/steam/games as it's supposed to be the icon folder and noticed it was completely empty . any recommendations ?

If you have only a few icons that you want to fix then you can try verifying the integrity of game files for each corresponding game. If you have to fix every icon for all your games then I suggest you look at my comment #12 from the following discussion:

out of 20 games only 1 of 2 go and another useless of 40 go got deleted the rest is fine , i still have 60 to go through tho

also i have 3 TB of files to validate and 2 of them are on hdd

some game told me i needed to reinstall but all files are perfectly fine in the downloading folder , so it's just long but works great , thanks . however an issue like this in 2023 for valve is ridiculous

Would be nice if Steam were to check for, and add if necessary, the icon file when you "add desktop shortcuts."

Are the icons that aren't showing up for Steam's Small Mode or Desktop icons?
Strange that the icon files aren't in steam/steam/games. Check to be sure your computer's security features aren't interrupting or blocking anything for Steam. Anti-virus, Firewall, Windows Firewall and Defender or whatever the Apple operating system security features are if you're using a Mac.

Optionally you can search Google Images for icons, download and replace them or use custom icons. Here's an example of a search[www.google.com].

it was the desktop icons and xarvn trick worked , it s quite long but better than reinstalling everything . i have more than a 100+ games so changing them one by one is long and doesn't even solve the problem on the long run

Glad you got it figured out. It's worth checking in to security features. If they're blocking Steam or your games that can cause other issues too.

Check "...Steam\steam\games." Are the .ico files still there? If so then try setting the default app for .URL files to "Internet Browser."

some icon are still here the vast majority isn t .

That is strange. I would run run crystal disk info to check drive health:
https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskinfo/
Then run check disk.
