I need help with multiple issues around games on wrong monitor

(First of all I think it is terrible we need to use a forum space instead of there being direct customer support from Steam, is this a joke?)

In any event, I have 2 main issues that I am trying to solve, hoping someone can help.

Issue 1 - I have games starting on the wrong monitor. I have 3 monitors from left to right, and I have verified in Windows setting that my middle monitor is my "main display." However, I have games choosing to start on my left monitor which is horizontal so this is bad. I have found some tactics online like "windows key + shift + arrow" to move but that doesn't stop them from starting on the wrong monitor. Is there a way to get the game to actually start on my correct monitor?

Issue 2, tied to issue 1 - I have further found instruction online to enter "-windowed" in properties so the game will start in windowed mode, making it easier to move each time. This was working through yesterday, and now my games ignore this command / prompt and start in full screen again anyway. Why does this no longer work?

If specific game might have anything to do with this: Spyro Reignited and Sega Mega Drive.

If you have any setup issue with multi screen, read the manual or Contact GPU card support they have support and use that OS and somehow its softeware dont seem to explan that to you, in how to do. ( im sure you know if Nvidia then its in that kontrol panel you do that and somehow it seem to have switch this around, dont forgetr there is a primary screen, and the other is drag to them, such has been the way as long i know, but let see what other has to say about it.

One workaround for getting it on the right monitor is you can use Big Picture Mode and set the correct monitor as a target. Not perfect, but works pretty well.

As for "-windowed" only some games support it, I believe. Are the games where it's not working games you've used it on before?

Steam support only helps with account and billing issues. User errors are not on their list .

@Iceira - I have no such issues with other games outside of Steam, this is Steam specific. Also, dragging is not working anymore like it used to.

@Kienan - You clearly did not read my entire post as your question is answered in it. Please try reading again and this time more thoroughly.

Ask steam support if they made configuration issue or change, i have seen a game devs do other mode in programing and i only got gaem to work with none default ways, sense im not a programmer i cant help you with it. i doubt this, but lets see if other steam user know better.

and it still being seen as GPU card support, normaly then programmer make apps they dont point to a primary screeen , they just make it as they use to do so,

that mean 1 pc monitor and gpu card , you do not get that part at all, Multi screen is still seen as issue then things not working, and steam dont make your GPU card or its drivers.

and maybe this is why steam cant help you then they dont make or have option to such, and gpu card support might need to argur debat with OS maker why and whats wrong here.

let GPU card supporter try help you i doubt steam can, if they got a mail from GPU card support they might want to make option if they can proof this is a steam issue , or one of them grey area then both cause issue with it,

contact steam support and gpu card support there is no other way.

Multi screen yes they have been there a long time, but the past ways on how thinngs was made still effect us today. ( its here you need them that work with it, ( what do steam know about multi screen and OS ) Nothing its a front store that sell games.

and be happy we try to tell you this, this is not about being right, this is about who has support on other Brands product.

and what if this is a bug in the GPU driver, its here you might not get where we other has seen such before, that dont make it better, and still dont count as a accept they did, but as we try to explan to you im not so sure many have 3 monitors maybe 2 and that can also matter, but i doubt, multi monitor has more user then 1 only, and that mean so many dont even know driver aient work with them, i will not say you are few, but its simple to many diffrent gpu card/hardware model to even have a idea on how many combination is mind blowing,

feel free to try old gpu driver, problemm is also OS update sometimes , i have seen msg from gpu card on same driver , make fresh reinstalll , and then it work again OS is king and GPU card is pawn in that topic.

Again i did not need to tell you anything, i could just say contact GPU card support.
steam dont make GPU drivers and it ends there.

steam use to have link in top left corner , but that has been remove because all has auto update driver app, im sure of this. problem is next gen ppl might not know such.


and im not sure all them in steam setting or dpi at steam.exe or compability setting actual is the problem here. but go ahead and test , and then you see how many combination of this, thats a nightmare. but still few and possible to test them.


i will start with turn on or off Gpu accelration if i was you.

Right click steam.exe ( for compatible setting ) do note other games has been seen to cause issue with such, as i said its all GPU support related, you might fix it and cause other games with issue because you have change steam.exe setting, its soon seen as a no go to fiddle with setting on steam.exe, then you have many games that wont even start and you have no clue why. ( elder scroll Oblivion was one of them. ) a grey play button in the game laucher if i recall correctly. ) and who know if that has not change with the many GPU driver update. (( the trap is you forgot you have change the steam.exe settings ))

Somehow, magically, by the time I came to read this today and tried the game again, before making any such changes, the game is once again opening in windowed mode which is fine as a work-around. Looks like the issue of not opening in windowed mode has been corrected / fixed itself.

yeah , i know that feeling, and that is a fix, but out of the blue now you have Full screen issue, i i stick to my claim , all GPU releated issue and next gen game card and things change.

ohhh also do the dism repire and SFC, just in case it window make a issue over something, and i bet you also scrats your head on that on work in windows mode now, maybe that the problem a update change this or was it maybe that the problem is only you know what you once did.

i have seen one of the past Hell neighbour, only work in windows mode, im sure that was a full screen wayback at old gpu card. so it is strange newer card cant get it to work.

so many old game with special light issue, or voodoo game, but that was a diffrent time.


but GZ anyway no matter what as gamer we dont care what fix it, atm it work again, thats all that matter. long live windows mode then full screen fail.
