my hsbc card isnt working on steam

today i opened up an hsbc bank account and ive been trying to buy btd6 on steam. i tried first by selecting mastercard and entering my correct info. it said my credit card company woundlt accept it (I HAVE A DEBIT CARD). i dont know how to get my hsbc canada banking card to get to buy stuff on steam if some1 could help would be very helpful

Does it say MasterCard on your debit card?

This might be a question for your bank. You either put the card information wrong and the bank declined it, or you put it in right and your bank declined the transaction. And as a distant outside possibility, that there's an issue with the payment processor, but I'd expect more complaints on the forums if that were the case.

Banks have fraud prevention measures, for a new account they may be being overly cautious and declining online transactions. The short answer is contact your bank and have a conversation with them about why they're declining your Steam purchase.

which country are you currently staying at?????

OP's Steam Account Profile is created in 2021, so it can't be a new Steam Account at all.
