"Disk Write Error" when attempting to download game

Exactly what it sounds like - when I try to download a game (Metal Unit), I get a "disk write error" message, and the game does not download.

Other games seem to download just fine. I've tried restarting Steam, restarting my computer, repairing the Steam Library folder, and verifying files. Each time, I get the "disk write error" message. I'm not sure what to do besides maybe installing the game on a different drive...

EDIT: Installed the game on another drive. The download and game seemed to work okay, but when I tried to move the game folder to my main drive, I got an error message saying "content file locked".

Reformat that disk. I seen some issues where it is that simple. If you look on the forums, there is other fixes. Specifically to this issue, there are fixes dating back 1 - 3 months because I helped a few people, but mostly the fix was to clean format said "failing" drive.

There were issues where people were using external drives and there are a few different scenarios with those as opposed to internal drives.

If you are attempting to download on the C drive and it is not a laptop, I recommend against doing so...

Also remember to recreate a new Steam library after (if) you reformat the disk.

Is this an internal or external drive?

For the "content file locked" error, try launching steam.exe as administrator...
