My Controller Keeps Making the Mouse pointer Move
It's really frustrating, I have to take the batteries out just to quickly switch my controller off. My mouse pointer goes haywire on my desktop and I can't click on applications and such. Heard it was a Steam issue but I did the recommended solution to no avail. Thanks in advance for your time!

Thank you very much! That does indeed look like the perfect place to ask!

What controller are you using?
What was the recommended solution you had tried?

If it only happens when Steam is running then its looking like you want to disable the Desktop Layout/config (or just remove the mouse binding). (Or if the Guide/Home button is being triggered, remove the mouse binding from the Guide Button Chord Layout).
Or, thinking about it, if its due to stick drift, could alternatively be resolved by adjusting the deadzone.

Oh man, my bad- I was pretty vague in my description, and to think that I used to be a technical support rep! But it was over 12 years ago...
Anyway, it is an Xbox One controller and I remember doing something under controller settings in the Steam app, I believe it was something about disabling xbox configuration support.

Update- I just checked, it was the menu heading 'Enable Steam Input for Xbox Controllers'.

OK, to disable the desktop layout:
Steam > Settings > Controller > Desktop Layout [Edit] > gear icon (to right of 'Edit Layout') > Disable Steam Input > Confirm

Oh thank you! Yes I just now figured it out but it would have saved me a lot of grief if I got to your message beforehand! It just seemed like I kept going in circles back to point A. I am so freaking relieved & happy now, that was so frustrating!
Have a wonderful day tintingaroo!
