What is "WL Steam Purchase"?
I have been buying and refunding games on Steam for a decade now, and I've always been satisfied with how it plays out. However, I also keep track of my purchase history on my card and for the first time ever, I am seeing Steam charge me as "WL Steam Purchase" without any additional information instead of its usual verified "Steam - steamgames.com". The purchase I am refunding also happens to be from WL Steam Purchase, and it is taking longer than usual to refund me. Should I be concerned? I'm not sure how to share images/screenshots but if I figured it out I will be posting them. Thank you!

Also, all the charges from "WL Steam Purchase" only appear to be from the same days - July 10 & July 12. I was taking advantage of the Summer Sale and made a few purchases then. Does this have anything to do with it?

I literally just got this charge today as well, the last thing I purchased was Modern Warfare 2 for 30 dollars but I got a 20 dollar WL STEAM PURCHASE

I think it’s fraud. Only reason I noticed it is because I just got hit with credit card fraudulent transactions and closed my card. Today, the transaction showed up from July 31st. I filed a ticket with Steam and have a feeling that I will have to contact Visa as well unfortunately…

When adding a new card, steam will ask you if you want to "verify" the card.
If you say yes, they will add a charge for a ransom amount (small).

You are then supposed to enter this amount on steam, so steam can see that you have access to the bank statement from the new card. If it matches then your card becomes "verified".

The charge will then be cancelled, and disappear from your card after a few days.

Not sure but for me it was just delayed charges from purchases I made a couple days prior.

really bro i don't think they asked for charging. and i didn't enter any amount. i just clicked continue and then verify and my card was saved. suddenly i saw 1 USD was cutted from my account. i thought my account has been hacked or wtf so i removed the payment method immediately will i be refunded all the amount. they were saying only the tax will be refunded:(
if i try to save the payment method again will money still be deducted from my account. will this happen everytime i try to enter payment method?

No - when you buy anything online then your bank/card provider reserve the funds so you can't double spend them. If the transaction completes the money's transferred. If it fails then the reserve drops off. This can take a few days to happen and is all done at your banks end.

I just tried being an in game currency thru steam and it double charged me 52.74, so now I'm down $104 because of the WL thing. will it actually go away in a few days or am I screwed.

Just saw this for the first time as well and (for me) it was the total of several games I purchased a few days prior coming up differently and more delayed than I’ve ever experienced in the past for … some odd reason but the amount does check out when I do the math so I think these are legit.
