Can You See the Difference Between When a Game has 250 FPS and 300 FPS on a 240hz Monitor?
I currently have a 60hz monitor and I want to make the big jump and upgrade to a 240hz monitor, can you see the difference in smoothness as described in the title? FYI, I CAN see the difference when a game is capped at 62 FPS or 60 FPS (62 FPS is smoother with less screen tearing) on my 60hz monitor.

However, I'm asking this question because I never owned a screen with a refresh rate higher than 60hz. I also want to play Red Faction Guerrilla, the game has 2 versions, Re-Mars-Tered and original 2009 release, Re-Mars-Tered has a 250 FPS cap while 2009 has 300 FPS cap but 2009 has more bugs that were only fixed in the Re-Mars-Tered AFAIK.

"A setup with a 240Hz monitor hooked up to a system producing 350 frames per second is still better than a system with a 240Hz monitor that produces just over 240 frames per second."

How true is this?

The difference between 100 frames per second and 144 frames per second is not very noticeable, unless you have an unusually large screen. (24 inch is an average sized PC screen.)

See a difference? Maybe, there is diminishing return regarding such things. The higher you go, the less you notice.
I'd say a quality 144 Hz display is absolutely fine these days.

I keep hearing that you STILL CAN see the difference between 120hz and 240hz, however, it's not as big as the difference between 60hz and 120hz and people keep saying that if you have a 120hz screen, just stick with it and no need to upgrade from 120hz to 240hz unless you have money to burn for minimal differences, I personally still have 60hz monitor so there's my chance to upgrade to a 240hz monitor.
I agree with them. For a regular sized screen 120 hertz should be enough. But you will still play better if you go higher, even if you can't notice the difference. 200+ frames per second is only important when playing Quake Live or something similar.

Read things like that, might help, and yet many forget old telly was made in 25hz in the past
