GPU issue spread to other Steam games
So a couple days ago I purchased "Red Dead Redemption 2" on Steam.
Today, since I couldn't find a way to load previous saves, I just closed the game to hopefully end up at a past save. However, as I launched the game again, I received the "err_gfx_state" Error. So I tried a couple of solutions, including:
  1. Verifying the integrity of the game files
  2. Launching the game with the "-ignorepipelinecache" launch argument
  3. Deleting certain "sga_" files
And finally editing the API Settings within the "system.xml" file to force the game to use 'DirectX12' instead of 'Vulkan'.
This did make the game launch, but only at reduced graphics settings and exclusively in borderless windowed mode. So I decided to try a clean reinstall of RDR2.

This is where I assume the issue spread. I'm not really certain if this is actually the same Bug, but now certain games, like "Jurassic World Evolution 2" do not launch correctly, giving me an error saying I need a graphics Adapter compatible with DirectX12 . "Warhammer: Vermintide 2" also crashes upon launch with a GPU-Related error message. Other Games like "People Playground", "Townscaper" and "Slime Rancher 2" only launch with extremely low frame rates. "Teardown" also just does not launch.

How do I fix this?

Make sure your monitor is connected to the nVidia videocard and not the integrated Intel videochip.

"Video Card:
Driver: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 750

DirectX Driver Version: 31.0.15.3667

OpenGL Version: 1.1"
This looks VERY wrong.

When you connected the monitor to the right slot (to the grafic card),
revert the changes you did in files and settings.

If you mean changing the main/default GPU, I've tried to before.
When I had issues with NVIDIA Shadowplay, I tried to switch to the NVIDIA card, but afterwards my monitor would freeze upon launch, right before the login screen. I had to start my pc in safe mode to switch it back.

Where is the monitor plugged in to? Motherboard or the card?
Crazy Tiger 27. juli 2023 kl. 5:34
Check what Muppet mentioned. Also, when you run a game, alt-tab out of it, open task manager and check the GPU it's using.
ap_dp 27. juli 2023 kl. 5:40
From what I see in task manager, apparently the NVIDIA card isn't being used at all. Normally it has a small ~5-10% workload, with the Intel one taking on most of the work, but right now it's at 0%.
Cathulhu 27. juli 2023 kl. 5:41
Which means the monitor is connected to the Intel videochip.
Connect your monitor to the nvidia videocard if you want it to be used.
ap_dp 27. juli 2023 kl. 5:54
The monitor doesn't receive a signal when it's connected to the nvidia card.

Check that the card sits right, that it is connected with power plug.
(Shut down pc and remove electric cable while that)
Install the right driver.
Test all slots.

Since when did it not work?
Lavie 27. juli 2023 kl. 6:38
Hi!
Have you tested the HDMI and Display ports?

Wouldn't it showing up on the task manager show that it's on? (Also the RGB is on)
I've already got the newest NVIDIA driver installed.
Neither slot works.

Well the shadowplay problem (Primary GPU change being impossible) happened like a year ago, but no complications appeared afterwards. This specific issue only appeared today.
Muppet among Puppets 27. juli 2023 kl. 9:31
If the cable is in the grafic card, and the monitor is set to display that slot the cable is in the monitor,
it should work.
ap_dp 27. juli 2023 kl. 9:37
Uhhhhhh sooo...
I just did a pc restart to try again and

It worked?
Task Manager shows NVIDIA going 20-50% so..
yay?
Turning it off and on again never fails
