Does not matter if you buy them on Steam or Epic or anywhere else.
There is no legal way to play those titles without the Ubisoft launcher.
Also you got warned about the game using an extra launcher on the Steam store page.
So this is more on you not informing yourself how the system works.
For mods i bought it, just tell me how to play my single player game after deleting Uplay.
It's just a single player game? No way to connect just once and let steam do it's thing?
Nope. Will need to connect to Ubisoft Connect each time you start it.
Thats how Ubisoft games work. Its the same with Electronic Arts and the EA APP or Rockstar with their Rockstar Social Club launcher.
No matter where you buy games from those publishers they all need their own launcher on top to start the games.
Also to farm information.
Welcome to the future. Publishers own their games, and their games may require their launcher, regardless of which storefront you buy the from.
Steam and uplay will know the exact same thing about you.
Considering you already bought it, I personally see no moral issue with it. Godspeed.
There is nothing about being moral buying from them, corporate isn't my friend and I sure as hell don't want to be part of ubisoft's ecosystem but as you can see I'm forced too.
Pretty much a world of difference between them, you would have to be living under a rock for the past two decades or very recently started gaming to not know how ♥♥♥♥ their practices are and how anti gamer and greedy in general the company is. If steam just says no to third party launchers then modders wouldn't have to support the borrowed license versions of them anymore but of course all steam cares about is getting a cut from who ever is desperate enough, like me, to buy these games.
