How to deal with scammers?

Every now and then i get befriended by someone who wants me to give them a scrennshot of my purchase history, accusees me of scamming them or not paying for a CS GO item i never sold them, want to pfish out my data etc.
Can anyone tell me if there is any efficient way in catching them? I usually just report them to steam, but does that relly prevent them from making another burner account?
What is the best procedure in those caes?

Unless you know someone or just played with them, ignore their requests.

Report, block, move on. That's your civic duty, so to speak, on that topic. Afterwards, you've done all you're supposed to and it is out of your hands.

Ignore, report, block. It's that simple. The more of these scammers you add, the more likely they will target you.

Other than reporting the accounts and being wary yourself, there is nothing you can do.

Well, you can, but reporting without knowing whether they're indeed trying to scam you is kinda bad, for obvious reasons.

So accept the friends request & roll with it. Who knows, maybe someone really just wants to talk to you! I got a couple people on my list who added me for this very reason. There's a difference between caution and paranoia and to assume that EVERYONE is after you clearly is the latter. Accept the friends request and go with "evil is as evil does". Do they do evil? Report, block, move on. Do they not do evil? No reason to fuss then.

You don't have to add someone to report them. You also don't have to burden yourself into a scam either. Simply ignore suspicious or unwanted friend friends and if someone is to be targeted for a scam then let them report the account instead.

Don't bother 'dealing' with them.. They are not worth the time. Just report, block and ignore.
