Why are new web browsers very slow ?
If you use a web browser to access the Steam community in the game, the speed is very slow.
But on the client side, everything is fine.
Is there anyone like me?

Can't say I do. Tried it in Chrome and Opera and both are fast. The client is on par, perhaps slightly slower for me.

If your browser is slow, it's very likely related to your browser. Does your anti-virus program check links in the browser? Do you have extensions active in the browser? All such things can interfere with the loading speed of pages.

No, I'm talking about using Steam's web browser. Open in the Steam interface

+1, new UI is utter trash, why did steam mess with something that worked flawlessly for a decade? Web browser takes almost 30 seconds to load google.

+1 indeed. When I use Steam web browser in the game, when I play CSGO for example and have a look to the suspicious profiles during the matches, well, the web browser loads the profile page very very slow, everytime. AltaVista search engine was way faster in the 2000's.

It's just as sluggish as it was before. Sometimes even short YouTube videos wont even load properly.

Ultimately a lot of the blame is on javascript. Websites often have to load up so much javascript, and execute it, that there's bound to be some performance consequences. And since all the code runs on the user's PC a slow PC is going to feel the consequences a lot more.

So is your PC slow/old?

And if you don't like blaming javascript, browsers still have to do more than they ever did before. That's not all going to be for free, performance-wise.

No, I have a good pc. If it's a JS issue, didn't Valve do better in the past?

Came here to find out why. This is why we need other gaming platforms to succeed.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
