Can happend to any security app,
and also have spare pc/ Friends laptop with windows defender only, can proof or nail such way faster, see it like so you dont make samemistake or have same security app.
i can say what will you do if i had my laptop at your netwrok and lets say it worked, then you will accept , oopm i most have a issue on my own pc now.
im not usering this to hammer you down , im telling its a good way to faulth finding on the subject.
gl with it.
so they added steam to the excluded from scans and excluded auto-protect, script control and behavioral protection: configure tab. If you have norton add steam from your appdata/roaming/microsoft/windows/star menu/ programs/steam
it will have to be added to both scans and auto-protect
No but something cause this, why its been blocked, let Norton security support figure that out. only they know why, sense i dont have norton , then it dont matter what i say here.
And you need to understand i see security both as a pain in the butt, and sametime we cant avoid not to have it.
you might say why do they not check for such sense steam client is one of the biggest game client, and so is EA and other website, let me put it like that, should they not test own securtiy engine, just because i say this , this is no diffrence then any other IT company that keep eye on management. ( its like testing own app before update get released, im sure they do some of this but block steam store page, thats not good , even you can understand that.
and im sure no matter how good they test something, mistake can happend no matter how well testing has been done.
gl with ask nicely to norton support, if you go down that road with a complain.
thats correct. my two other computers are not having the same issue. but if this could help one person, than im fine with it. just sharing my experience. i was having a similar issue and for this computer, it was a norton issue blocking the steam client. i dont see any fault.. the whole purpose of the community is to support each other. But thank you for your words and hope sharing my steam issue helps. thanks
OP said STEAM POST 19.
gl with it.
ps.
"ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR" this is the clue not even sure Norton is part of this.
thats not post 19
this is copy from above user
Go to control panel>Network and Internet>Internet Options>Delete browsing history and cookies>Content>Clear SSL State.
Do note thats is default Browser Data, and can be seen as do have one of the 3 well test Browser, thats is seen as MS edge or Firefox or Chrome.
I try going to the store page in my browser and I get "Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to store.steampowered.com. Peer reports it experienced an internal error.
Error code: SSL_ERROR_INTERNAL_ERROR_ALERT
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem."
hmm did you reboot, just checking.
Edit: Rebooted, still getting 107 code in steam browser. First time opening steam store in firefox it opened fine, just tried again a minute later, SSL_ERROR_INTERNAL_ERROR_ALERT window again.
Do windows safe boot mode work, google this in how to do in win10+
dont have past win7/8 im thinking on last SSL issue in top of this, im done with that OS.
Im getting the same issue with steam store. Also spectrum user. Ive tried everything above multiple times. It will occasionally work once after clear but goes right back to it (windows 11) This is also across two different computers one being brand new. The other is Windows 10.
Ive even went into the host file, but theres nothing there. Rename etc does nothing.
Whats really odd is if im NOT logged into Steam the store shows fine. If im logged into the website, fine.
But if im logged into the app on windows or my phone. The I get the same error. If I turn off wifi on my phone (verizon) it works fine.
Im pretty sure its spectrum being ass. Anyone contact them? I remember something similar happening awhile ago but cant recall details.
"delete all cache files and cookie and history."
reboot steam.
Do know the diffrence in windows Default Browser and steam client own browser with a store page SSL issue.
