Steam Library Folder is not executable
I am using steam on Manjaro Linux and am trying to add a steam library on a 4TB hard drive
when doing so i get the "Steam library Folder is not exectuable" error

the drive is formatted in ext4 and i've already made sure all the permissions on the drive and the folder are both executable, and that my user account has access to them

i honestly don't know what to do and i've tried searching everywhere for a solution but have come to no avail. i'm new to the steam forums and if i posted this in the wrong area or something please let me know so i can post there instead :steamhappy:

Im still having the same issue after switching to the beta and restarting steam
Then feel free to leave a bug report in the SteamClient Beta group.
so uhm, i am kinda stupid, i fixed the issue. if anyone else has this issue i solved it by going to https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Steam/Troubleshooting and navigating to 7.2 and following the instructions there.

Oh man you just saved me from a half day headache trying to get this working. Thank you so much!

Just so that maybe I can also help any linux noobs like me, here's an explanation of how to do it.

Open a terminal and type in

sudo nano /etc/fstab

You should see your drive as an entry there.

Then add 'exec' to the list of drive parameters.

For example mine looked like this:

/dev/nvme1 /home/YOURUSERNAME/Games ext4 nofail,users, 0 2

Add "exec' after 'users,'

ctrl + x to exit, type y to save, then unmount and remount the drive.

For reference, I am running Steam on Nobara Linux 40 after formatting my game drive to ext4.

Tried this... It works for only 4~5 hours and Steam just stops using the drive....

4 Days ago everything was normal I just auto mounted the drive on startup (No exec to just default) and it just worked....
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
