Help with restoring a screenshot

So as the title says, I deleted a screenshot but I still have it saved on my desktop. I dropped it back into the folder that contains the game's screenshots but it won't show up when I view screenshots in the Steam client. I'm pretty sure you could use this method to restore screenshots before Steam's recent update. So any help would be appreciated as I did like the screenshot I took.

You could make a new screenshot, and name your old like that one. While steam is off. Then start steam and upload the screenshot first time. Dont know if it still works.

The strange thing is that I can still see it on the hard drive in the folder where the screenshot is supposed to be. Steam just won't read it. Maybe I could re-install the game and take another screenshot to see if the deleted one shows up again, but the game is a large download.

So I tried every possible method I am aware of, but Steam screenshot manager just won't read the screenshot saved in the folder. So obviously according to Steam, the only legitimate screenshots that exist are ones that are acknowledged by the screenshot manager. Trying to restore deleted ones doesn't work right now, since as far as the screenshot manager is concerned, it only reads the screenshots that Steam took and kept on the hard drive.

Since I am not the only one who has had this issue, I request that this be corrected in an update. We should be able to restore deleted screenshots if they are legitimate screenshots taken in the game we played them in.
