different steam download speed in the same w-lan with different advices
Hi.

I own a gaming laptop that I've been quite happy with for a number of years. My internet isn't the fastest, so my average download speed has never been much higher than 1 MB/s. Today, out of boredom, I installed a game on my tablet via the same network and suddenly the game loads at almost 10 MB/s. So I thought okay, my laptop should actually be able to do that as a right. I've tried many things like disabling the antivirus program. Clean up memory, stretch out Ethernet cables and otherwise make all conditions as optimal as possible. Despite all this, my download network is at 1.2 MB/s and my drive utilization has also been at 0b/s for the past 20 minutes. Can anyone advise me what else I can try. :)

There are 2 different frequencies used by WLAN:

2.4GHz and 5GHz

2.4 is slower but has a wider range. And there are also other devices sending on this frequency (e.g. Bluetooth).

I had a similiar issue while having a PS4 controller connected to my PC via Bluetooth and running on 2.4GHz. My download speed would drop to like 250kb/s.

Can you check which bandwith you are using and whether you have Bluetooth devices currently coinnected?
Are game installed on other lan pc, then you fetch it from there. ( this is steam default now. )

Is it already downloaded to another PC? Did you try the Local Transfer method Valve added?
