Help with disabling Steam Overlay for Non-Steam games
Hey there- I've been consolidating and adding a lot of non-steam games to my steam library recently, which makes it a great hub to launch everything from one program. Only issue is that sometimes the steam overlay causes problems.

I would love to be able to simply uncheck steam overlay from the properties section per game (as was previously possible), but ever since the library updates to steam, the properties tab has much less options than it used to for non-steam games, and the option is simply not there sadly.

I had found this thread here as well talking about disabling it from big picture mode, but that also seems to rely on the old big picture mode, which has since been changed and updated, which in turn has removed the option. Thread below.

So my question is- is there ANY way I am able to disable the steam overlay from non-steam games that I have added to my library? Both methods that used to work have since had their check boxes removed, is there another method or something I'm overlooking? Any and all help and suggestions appreciated.

wondering the same
I have an interesting situation. I disabled overlay for non-steam game in big picture while it was still possible but now the tickbox is gone and I am stuck with disabled overlay forever then? :D. I just found out steam overlay wasn't the problem and other overlay was crashing the game. So I hope someone finds a new way to disable-enable overlay again.

I'd assume because you cannot disable nor enable the overlay anymore, you would need to do a janky work around in order to reset the settings of the app to default. Try removing the app from your library and re-adding it, maybe it'll auto enable as it does by default for new apps?
