However I try to reset my password and it's worked!!
But this password reset might need your email & steam mobile apps to assist.
Hope this help!
I don't understand why Steam hasn't fixed this recurring issue yet. It's extremely frustrating.
I use Steam Guard via the QR code for easy login without typing my username & password. It's been very convenient for me so far...
...until I tried to login to my main Steam account (this account is my alternate account usually for free to play online games when I use a computer that isn't my gaming rig and other PCs in my house, especially when I'm on internet cafes and other public places that have a computer that I can use). After I scanned the QR code with my phone and verified my ISP's IP address and geolocation (which is correct, btw), I suddenly got an error saying "Something went wrong while attempting you to sign in. Please try again later." So I tried again, but many times later and still didn't work. So I tried logging in using the Steam Guard code instead, but I got the infamous "There have been too many sign in failures from your location in a short time period. Please wait and try again later." message.
I tried changing my password using the mobile app as it's still logged in. But I can't since the mobile app is so stupid by navigate me to the change password section but in webpage form (within the app mind you) asking me to check the confirmation code. But I can't check it while I'm still at the webpage form unless I press the back button or press the bell icon and end up closing the webpage form. But I did it anyway and accept the confirmation. I went back to the same webpage form, and went back to the very same routine of checking the confirmation again, it's becoming a annoying loop.
And some people are telling to wait for the retry limit timer to reset. Okay then, maybe I'll wait for a few hours? A whole day? A few days? A week? A month? Fine then, I'll make use of that wait time playing games on my PS5.
At least it didn't give me headaches signing in just to get access to my PSN account, with 2FA added for a good measure. Well, at least I can still play my games that I bought offline without even signing in to my PSN account or not having an internet connection.
Can I do that to my PC now? Sure, as long as I know where to look for an exe file on the said game so I can play offline. I can even make a shortcut of the exe file on every game that I legally bought on Steam with my hard earned money, and ditch the Steam client. But isn't the Steam client's purpose to make every game library easily accessible at any given time (assuming I don't any have connection issues from my ISP)?
I have no problems so far logging in to my Steam account with just a Steam Guard code sent to my email. And the Steam Guard QR code from the mobile app is supposed to make logging in easier and safer. But that instead ended up prevented me from logging in, forcing me to wait for God knows when. So I told to myself, "♥♥♥♥ this mobile app, I'm gonna remove the authenticator and I'll go back to the usual code by email instead."
If this is a server issue, then sure, I'll give it a few days and enable the authenticator back when it's back to normal, so I can use the QR code signing again. But if you guys blame my internet connection, then ♥♥♥♥ Steam mobile app. Hell, ♥♥♥♥ Steam client. Why punish us users who legally bought games on Steam for an error that isn't within our control, not to mention we're using the mobile app correctly as intended to be used?
And also proof a point in stop hammer the door policy, the time you reboot router and pc maybe.
You need to be educate in network or read network book why things happend, to even have a chance in debug why login issue was there, you dont need 4 page of explanation, this is not all helper here thst the problem, i tryied stay out of this Topic, what are the chance that you router is the problem that mean you think it is, i doubt that, and so do other network engineer , because that mean you think router know your pw and login, and it do not, and this is why reboot router wont fix a thing, then you already have right connection place, and be happy someon dare tell you this. ( i did not say its not part of your problem, i said router dont know jack and crap about login/pw to a website ) and i stick to that. ( thats your pc that do that. )
im not after you here, try see the help next steam user with why it can happend,
"Cant Log in: Too Many Retries." stop FFS hammer the door bell, its look like a DoS attack on steam server and maybe thats why you get temporary blocked, and it dont help i said 5 minute what if steam change this to 10 minutes, this is why you see post with wait 15minute , and in top of that, keep doing it and it could reset counter so you start over,
i dont work for steam, this is standard Domain server knowledge ( not a secret ) its seen as privat IT-company policy, and they can change and do even more security as they see fit.
problem is steam will not explan this, with 1 billion steam user account im sure you can see the problem if all did this. they are in controll over masses login failurs , we are not and you been told
"Too Many Retries."
so you have a app that auto login with script and it fail its that simple ( possible you change PW and now you auto login is the issue. ) its a outdate pw maybe wait 15 minute.
what will you do if steam set this to 1 hour cooldown, with 1 billion user acount they can be force to do that someday. if they have a glitch same time , we have all seen this before in other online game with login issue, ( several hours indeed this is nothing new )
steam user should understand the warning "Too Many Retries." screw with security, and security screw with you, thatrs what IT ppl have learn today,
you dont type wrong pw 2-3 times anymore without wait 15 minute, its that simple
this is the trap, many dont understand, most company employee has been told this, its not a secret, its standard need to know knowledge, problem here is user forget such could be same here.
gl with it.
keep hammer the site, and steam might lock your account, and tell you contact steam, because you keep hammer the door. ( some say spam login server ) not the word i will use.
and we are past read through 4 page's of post here, most had enough of this,
be happy someone bother tell you fact, if not other steam helper already done so.
go ahead look up DoS attack ( Denial-of-service attack ) login server can do that, why should steam not have such. ( and we dont have to explan anything here, its common knowledge by many. )
write pw down , dont screw with security today, its that simple keep doing it and i have not seen what steam will do about it, but i dont think you should go down that road and test what steram will do. they might know you as user and lock all account, they have right to investigate source and get it stopped , because you force them to do so.
Try do that crap on a private company domain server and script will put you in blocking user from login.
and now you need to contact support and explan why you have login issue, its that simple.
