Help! Green lock will not go away!!
If you notice on the top left hand screen there is a green lock and next to it "store.steampowered" in green as well. This is not actually locking me out of anything but it will not go away. Even if I use another steam account or ALT PC. Someone please !!!

If you have the url display turned on you'll notice that the padlock shows up any time the page starts with https. That means its secured. Its a good thing to see that.

Steam > Settings > Interface >> Display web address bars when available.

If you don't want to see the address bar, turn that setting off.

Are you complaining about seeing the address bar or are you experiencing this black screen issue that is featured in this video? Because those are two different things.

The padlock in an url bar means, the connection is encrypted.
Its good to have a padlock there.

The screen is blacked out and you're worried about the address bar showing. Your concern should be about the blacked out screen.

One way to fix that is in the video you posted earlier. Did that solve the problem for you?

Some people, like me, prefer security. One time, long ago, there was no "green lock" on Steam. HTTPS:/ is the way not HTTP:/

Well, it prevents, that the data package is robbed on the highway, but usually the endpoints of the connection are more prone to be targeted. If something on your or the receivers end isn't as it should be, a secure connection won't fix it.
I'd stay focussed on the stuff behind the http(s).

The screen is black. It's not a "green lock valve corp" screen, that's just the result of it not loading correctly and being all black. If you keep referring to the green lock, you're going to continue getting replies that have nothing to do with your issue.

A couple of other options to fix the black screen issue are:
- make sure your video drivers are up to date
- try not to maximize the Steam window. Sometimes it doesn't display well with certain resolutions.
- clear the Steam client's web cache: Steam > Settings > Web Browser >> Delete Web Browser Data
- disable GPU accelerated rendering and/or hardware video decoding: Steam > Settings > Interface >> toggle the following on or off "Enable GPU accelerated...." and "Enable hardware video decoding...."

Those are the things I can think of.
