Download pause problem

Recently there was a 16.8 GB update to War Thunder. Due to how slow my internet is my only option to download it without paralyzing home's internet connection is to download it at nights and pause it during the day. I can't to this however, because pausing the download causes steam to start from scratch when i unpause it. No matter how much i have already downlaoded, when i unpause it, steam starts from 0, completely and utterly forgeting he already had some of the files 30 seconds prior. I need help.

Some people have posted that pausing resets if you don't exit Steam using the Steam > Exit option before shutting the PC down.

It resets even without shutting down PC. I may pause and unpause right after and it'll still reset.

That's because of War Thunder's nature of updating. It isn't fully integrated into Steam.

That said, you are better off using the native launcher here:

Be advised that the launcher forces the use of BitTorrent and is by default enabled to seed when finished AND to start with the OS. Double-check the settings. That means the game actively tries to use your system and internet connection as a download server.

Have you checked your drives's space usage? Make sure at least three times the amount (210 GB in this case) is available.

Hi, Ive tried on every ssd that i have, i do have 5 times the amount required and the weird thing is the game is acutally downloaded i can see all the folders and the 70go on my sdd but it keeps triing to download indefinitely, and i had the same probleme with another cd projekt red game.

If you use a different anti-virus system than Defender, try disabling that.

Steam installer didn't help. But i checked it on an update for other game and it works fine, so it's just a War Thunder thing.

I've been playing War Thunder for a long time now and it's first time this ever happened. I'll just suffer through one continuous download hoping it's a one time thing, but i'll keep your advice in mind in case this happenes again.
