friend chat always broken

hello, for about a week my friends&chat seems to be broken all the time

when i first start steam, all is fine but after some period my friend list wont open anymore when i click friends&chat on the bottom right, i have to restart steam to make it work, i can open chatwindows with workarounds (going on profile of someone and click there send message) but the messsenger wont show until i restart. anyone else have same problem?

steam friends chat is very broken, in many ways.
valve have little interest in fixing or improve it, so finding an alternative might be your best option.

my workaround is never click the list away, if it stay open i can switch to it but cant re-open it after closing

At this point, you're gonna need an alt to run on your browser for the explicit purpose of using Steam Chat.
