The only way is to idle them using idling apps. Taken from a discussion a while back...

i can look the movies on the webbrowser, but it add no playtime, my friendlist cant see what i do, and it dont generates new tradingcards, so i cant make badges from them, and cant write a review for titles i havent watched ago.

is there anyone who dont have these problems since the steam launcher video player is gone, or all have the same problem?

For accumulating playtime and to get card drops, use an idling app like IdleDaddy[play.google.com] or Archi's SC Farm .
