friends list/chat not working

Hi, anyone know how to fix this issue? It started 2 days ago...click friends/friends online and nothing pops up and am unable to "send message" to anyone.

Do you mean trying to open a chat window from friends or opening the friends list itself? Because I have the second one, also for two days now, I can't open the friends list. When I restart Steam it works again for like half an hour, after that I can't open it anymore and either have to restart Steam again or use the Steam overlay in a game to open it and open chat windows there.

I have tried deleting the Cache from the Settings menu, I have tried deleting the "friends" folder from the Steam folder, nothing helps.

This seems to be a newfound bug, it's happening to a lot of people, my friends and I have had those problems recently as well.

Restarting Steam seems to work for now, ending Steam Client WebHelper process in the task manager also helps for me.

My chat windows have never been locked to the friend list in the first place.

A chat window still opens itself when someone messages me, but I cannot open the friend list and therefore I cannot open a chat window with a friend myself either.
