Disk Read Error

I've been encountering this issue for a little while now, I figured that I should troubleshoot the issue online but most of the solutions didn't work for me.

So the issue is whenever I try to update a game (In this case Payday 2 and Ready or Not) it gets to the end of the Patching part of the update before giving the "Disk read error" message. I tried multiple methods to try resolve the issue the following being.

Verifying game cache
Fixing the Steam Library folder
Running steam as Admin
Looking through the Log folder (For some reason the Content.Log doesn't show up)

At this point I'm unsure what is causing the issue as it's only these two games, which are giving me the issue as other games have been updated smoothly. I can only guess it's the way these two games do updates, but any advice would be appreciated.

Start your system in safe mode (for obvious reasons with networking), see what happens. That'll rule out background crapware.

I not long tried this after reading the suggestion and it's still giving me the "Disk Read Error" after the update, the only other solution I can think of is trying to reinstall both games or Steam itself.

Can it be that the disk is going bad from wear-and-tear?

I doubt that, since it's a relatively new SSD I only had for around a year now, plus it only seems to be giving me the error on two games, other games installed to the same drive don't have this issue.

I believe it could have something to do with how these two games update in particular. Though I'm not sure on Ready or Not's update process (one of the games which have the issue). But I've had this issue before with PAYDAY 2 updating and giving me this error and had to reinstall it before.
