15s delay when launching steam and games
Hi,

I have a new machine (AMD 7950X, Win11, ...). On that machine, it takes 15s to launch steam. Same when "relaunching" steam, it takes 15s to bring the Steam interface to the forefront.

More annoying, it also takes 15s when launching a game using the desktop icons or the Steam right-click menu on the Steam taskbar icon. However, launching games is immediate if done from the Steam interface or when using the right-click menu in the Steam systray icon.
Using the command line ("steam.exe -- steam://rungameid/xxx") also takes 15s (which is expected given that's what the desktop icons do).
Starting the games directly ("steamapps/common/...") is fast.

Running steam with Windows in "safe mode with network" is fast, but in normal mode with all all the non-Microsoft services disabled and all startup application is still slow.

Disabling the Windows anti-virus did not help.

Looking at all the Microsoft services that are disabled in safe mode, I don't think it would be safe to randomly disable some of them to see which one could be the source the issue.

And it looks like I'm not the only one who see this 15s delay.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

he just updatre hes spec, great , well now you know take it up with AMD why steam dont work well with AMD iGPU.

steam is not going to solve your GPU card issue and the Drivers to them. thats GPU Brand support.

> What's wrong is you left out relevant system specs.... I mean if you're running Steam off an HDD

Right, I bought a 7950X just to run things off an HDD...
I don't see the point in specifying the specs in details when everything works fine while in safe mode or when starting the games directly or via the Steam interface.
But fine:
- AMD 7950X
- Asus ROG STRIX X670E-E motherboard
- 64GB of RAM
- NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super video card
- Hynix Platinum P41 PCIe 4.0 SSD drive

> You did mention disabling services, it's possible if you're one of those people who tries to min/max services (I used to be) you're could be disabling something that would normally be running and needs to start up before Steam loads

I disabled services to test things, and in particular to remove any services installed by 3rd party apps, which could interfere with Steam. I did not disable any service for the normal mode.
Note too that it works _better_ in safe mode with most services disabled.
Moreover, if it was the case of needing to start a service, I would expect it to be slow the first time, then be fast once the service is started. But for me the behavior is consistent.

Weird, I'm not actually using the iGPU but it was indeed the issue.
After disabling the AMD GPU in the device manager, Steam and the games start fast.
Thanks!
