Big Picture remains in focus after game launch

So, I added Red Dead Redemption 2 as a non steam game (I have it on epic). Game working ok. But, if I launch the game from Big Picture, my controller keep controlling the game and the Big Picture at the same time (with sound also). If I alt-tab out from game and back in all is ok, but I need a keyboard and the whole point of the Big Picture is to couch game. Any ways to resolve this? Some settings I miss? Thank you!

GTA5 behave exactly the same.

I also see that when I launch non steam game Fifa 23 I have to alt-tab so I can have fifa window in focus.

So, it seems to me a focus issue that I never encountered before this big overhaul of Big Picture. Can it be a windows 10 issue? Or a combined os+steam issue? Anyone having similar issues?

If this didn't happen with the previous version of Big Picture Mode, then you could always revert to it until this problem is resolved with the new version. You add the -oldbigpicture launch parameter to do this.

Ie. Right click the Steam icon, select properties, and change the Target field to this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -oldbigpicture

(Assuming Steam is installed in the default location.)

If Steam launches automatically with Windows, then you would have to open Registry editor and change the value of the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Steam

from this

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -silent

to this

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -silent -oldbigpicture

In Big Picture Mode, turn OFF this setting:
Settings > Customization > Use as Wake Movie

I had the startup movie set to play whenever the PC woke up.

I've since woken up my PC from sleep a number of times and no longer have the focus problem.

Maybe uninstall and install Steam?
