VRC PRO Life Time all inclusive
Do not buy this game I bought a life time all inclusive from VRC on steam and now they are saying they are stopping it here is a comment from the head guy..
Everybody is upset about it..
e-mail sent to all Lifetime All-Inclusive members:

Dear and valued VRC member,

In the period between 2012 and November 2018 you have purchased one of the Lifetime All-Inclusive subscriptions. At that time, we anticipated a healthy growth of VRC Pro and that the Lifetime subscription was a feasible option to offer to our members, sometimes in combination with a VRC USB adaptor.

Unfortunately, the future of VRC changed end of 2014 when our physics expert Todd Wasson decided to leave the project after 15 years of total dedication to this immensely complex part of VRC. The development of the physics engine is at the core of VRC Pro and determines the performance and even more importantly, the ‘feel’ of the car. It is absolutely amazing what we have able to achieve with our small team of developers in terms of ‘handling’ and ‘feel’ for r/c cars ranging, from 1:12 on-road pan cars till 1:8 buggies. Todd Wasson leaving the VRC development team meant the end to any further development of the physics and the introduction of new classes like the very popular 1:10 electric buggies. A physics engine that has been worked on for 15 years can simply not be continued by another developer. It is developed from scratch with very specific solutions, formulas, and AI, to solve very complex problems. There is no handbook how to develop and structure a physics engine for radio-controlled model cars, believe me!

Todd leaving the VRC development team end of 2014 meant that the development and introduction of new classes was no longer feasible. I was, however, able to configure some new classes like RallyX, GT3 and the upcoming Basher and Crawler classes as they are based on earlier developed chassis, but that is as far as I and VRC can go.

Despite this major set-back we continued to develop new content, especially new on- and off-road tracks and the forementioned new classes. After a few years it became evident that the future of VRC Pro did not justify any further investments in completely new developments. The whole VRC team (once 10 man strong…) was decommissioned over a 3-year period until 2018. Some developers are still involved upon request for server maintenance, support and bug fixing. Basically, VRC Pro is now a one-man operation by Pieter Bervoets (at age 73…).

One important decision I had to take in 2018 was to terminate the sales of Lifetime All-Inclusive subscriptions and instead to offer only All-inclusive subscriptions for a maximum of 12 months. The Lifetime concept simply wasn’t sustainable and would eventually endanger the continuation of VRC Pro.

Now, in 2023 I am forced to take another tough decision: to end the Lifetime All-inclusive period by 31st March 2023. Some have been able to enjoy the All-inclusive ‘free ride’ from 2012 onwards, the last buyers from 2018, so between 11 and 4 years.

This will probably come as a very unwelcome surprise to you, but for VRC Pro to continue in the future it must have a sound financial basis to carry all its expenses like server hosting (cost has doubled in the past year…), doing the necessary maintenance and support, and to be able to invest in new content, especially tracks.

I regret to be forced to take this decision now, but it is in the interest of the continuation of the VRC platform. I count on the continued support for VRC from all Lifetime All-inclusive members who will now have to pay again for the VRC services. As a gesture of goodwill we will add a 3-months all-inclusive subscription to your VRC account, starting April 1st, 2023.

Thank you for your kind understanding for this decision and your continued support for VRC,

Pieter Bervoets

yes, the life of the game

you got access to it until it died

it is unfortunate, but it happens

just as an fyi, when you get a

lifetime warranty

on a product, in the usa at least. it is for 7 years, because that is considered the lifespan of an object unless expressly stated otherwise
