Cannot change controller layout

I play Rocket League with an Xbox One controller, and I want to change the controller layout that is set in Steam for that game. I right click Rocket League and go to Manage -> Controller layout, then select a new layout from the list. As soon as I select a layout, then Controller Layout window disappears and my Steam library turns into a black screen. Nothing seems to restore my Library until I fully exit Steam and relaunch. Further, the controller layout did not change to the one I selected earlier. So I'm basically stuck with the one that is already set. Trying a different layout results in the same thing. Even selecting the already active layout will turn my library black. Any ideas on what's going on here and how to fix it?

It's a known issue, see here.
You can press back (the back button in the top left corner of Steam) to get back to the Library.
Seems like you can change profiles in actual Big Picture Mode as well.

Valve doesn't seem to care about releasing broken features from an early alpha build of their new BPM to the public; they basically just try to fix things once people point them out and complain.
