Pressing ALT + enter now exits BPM back to normal steam, and pressing F11 now changes it to Windowed mode.
Also I found in Settings > Display, there is a setting to start BPM in Windowed mode all the time, it seems. So at least for now that is a workaround for me to have BPM not be placed in the background and be uninteractable with a controller anymore after exiting a game, by using windowed mode.
Still bugging out in the "Menu" bar in the bottom left corner, either invisible or flickering.
That command will be removed at a later date. Be aware.
The benefit of my set up is that I can sit on the couch and use a controller. Much like what you guys have said, after closing a game, it no longer uses the controller and I have to set the controller to mouse mode to then let me click the menu button with the right trigger. It seems to me that my setup makes Steam think I am using a Steam Deck which I am not.
Anyway, hopefully they fix it or I can get the -oldbigpicture to work on the Pi shortcut.
"-oldbigpicture" should not be the solution for the future.
On my Shield, I used to be able to just open moonlight, click Steam and it'd open right to my desktop and easily able to minimize the old BPM. Now, I have to open Moonlight on my computer and then connect Moonlight to my computer to open BPM. Only then am I able to connect to my desktop via Shield. When I try connecting straight from my Shield, it connects but then the screen flashes back and kicks me back out to the Moonlight app.
Everything was working great until this update. This is a huge step backwards, despite the new BPM looking great compared to a menu window looking straight out of 1998.
As far as I know, Moonlight is my only option. The Steam Link app for Shield is absolute crap and has a ton of input lag, so I'm extremely disappointed with this terrible update.
Worked fine before the update
This update sucks so bad and it worked so well before
games freeze
frame rate down to 4fps
just a horrible experience after all
fix it!!!
I pay for all these games on steam for the home console couch experience
now that it's all broken…
why isn't there more uproar about this???
Also some odd behavior that if I launch steam and have my controller on it defaults to big picture mode. That's the kind of "convenience" feature that just causes more problems than it solves.
incredibly slow and laggy Big PIcture using latest beta and 4k resolution, basically unusable. Perfect on steam deck instead (maybe nvidia issue?)

it's simple - the new UI is f*****g s**t in deep beta. Some people say that on amd video cards it works okay
