Why does my avatar in discussions pages say I'm not online.
When I leave a comment on a discussion page and mouse over my avatar picture, it says "Last online 224 days ago." I've checked my Steam specs and the app says I'm online. I've only been offline a few times for short periods, but most of the time I'm online, and this has been the case for all of the years that I have been a Steam player. Also, these days, I often get an error message when I click on the Discussions tab for my games. It says there was an error trying to connect something. Sorry I don't remember the exact wording. I'm wondering if the two issues are connected.

Online status is dictated by signing into the friends list and appearing online. I've been "invisible" appearing offline in friends and chat for 160 days.

Yes, my profile has been private for all of the years I've been on Steam, which is a lot more days than the current 224 days that Steam says I've been offline.

OMG, it worked! Logging into the friends list makes the notice go away. Thank you for this little tidbit about how the Steam app works.
