Steam Scam through Discord

Today some random account on discord texted me saying they reported my account due to someone impersonating me and scamming them.

I question them about the account impersonating my own more than once and they said they couldn't tell me because the account blocked them, then I asked for the name of the account and they ignored me (getting passive agressive btw)

They told me to reach out to a supposed Steam Valve Employee, they sent a screenshot of a Steam ticket with two steam accounts and the emplyee's discord account and told me to reach out through discord which I found it weird.

After a quick search I found the discord account on scammer info site: https://scammer.info/t/steam-pending-ban-scam-aerhim-4081-danielj-steam-valve-employee-2238/117962

The moment I conforted them they removed me from their friend list.

TL;DR If someone texts you about a mistaken steam report, contact steam and block them :)

Never heard about reported by mistake/accidently/falsely on Discord/chat?
It's such a popular and old scam that I can't understand how some people still fall for it.

I didn't fall for it luckly but I've never heard of it before

There's a good way when you're feelling something suspicious - put 'reported by mistake' into the search box on the right and you'll see more than 250 pages with similar issues. Or read forums from time to time - very informative literature.)
