Cannot login despite entering correct details, and steam guard code

My friend is trying to log into her steam account and it will not let her login.

This is what she does:
1. type in username, and password. They are correct, and steam guard sends her an email to enter the code.
2. she enters the code correctly, and steam starts the login process.

After this steam interrupts this process with an Error:
"Something went wrong while attempting to sign you in. Please try again later."

She tried logging in through her browser, and through the steam desktop app and none would work. Does anyone else have this issue, or has a solution for it?

Extra info:
She searched online for similar posts and people are suggesting VPN's which is something that she is not interesting in using/buying. There's also suggestions about a mobile app, but she does not have such a thing.

Does the error message say anything else? Something about Support?

Ok, the problem was solved. Instead of using a vpn to change the ip, she instead used her mobile hotspot to log in.

I got this as well. Error Code 84. I can log in on browser but not the app on the computer... Wtf. Why would I want to play games off a mobile hotspot why cant I use my internet???

I'm also unable to login with the steam client, error 84. I've not tried since the new year - is there a year 2023 issue going on? Login via web page is fine.

After logging in she switched back to her normal ethernet connection. She only needed the hotspot to log in

Yeah! I was facing the same issue. I use two WIFI connections at home and when I tried to log in using the previous connection, it work — issue over. Thanks for help!

Same issue.

Has to be some kind of cookie because opening an incognito window in Chrome allows for a successful login.

Multiple attempts via steam guard on normal chrome with no success.

* Automated app login
* QR code scan
* Steam guard code

All result in "Something went wrong while attempting to sign you in. Please try again later." Error
