Steam gifting not working

I'm trying to gift a friend (who has added the 5$ needed to remove the restriction on his account) a game using my steam wallet balance that i just added a day or two ago.

When i get to the last page to confirm everything, it says that there was an error and my purchase hasn't been completed and i should retry in a few minutes.

I've been trying to re purchase it since yesterday but the same error appears. I've sent in a ticket but they haven't replied yet. Someone else is having this same problem but support hasn't answered them either.

In my purchase history, the only thing that is there apart from my previous in-game purchases are the balance i added and the gift i'm trying to buy is not there so it's also not registering as pending or anything.

any idea why this is happening? this is literally the first time i've added a steam balance on my account because i've used paypal for my previous in-game purchases. i want to make it in time to gift my friend before the sales end

If you are trying to use wallet funds to purchase the game gift, contact support and ask them to look into the gifting flag on your account.

Wait on their response.

Or just use an external payment method to purchase the game gift.
