Xbox series x controller double input

On any Steam game, my controller will register an input twice. I think steam or the pc believes it to be two controllers. When I go into multiplayer game it functions as two players. I only have this with my brand new xbox series x controller, and this is not an issue on my other xbox controllers. I've seached everywhere, other posts, help discords, help forums, and have not been able to find a fix. My controllers firmware is fully up to date.

Might need more info, does it;
Control both players exactly the same on multiplayer?
Is it just the X button?

Just Occam's razor so best guess is the X button faulty/sticks so it double clicks and the keyboard or a wireless controller is connecting.

so I managed to fix the issue Settings -> Controller -> Global Settings for Controller, then checking off xbox controller configurations, and advanced xbox controller support.
