Steam server errors all the time!
Hello!

As I couldn't find the way to get support from a living person with my Steam client issues, I decided to make a thread here.

So, here it is:

Recent weeks (or even a month) I’m not able to use all the options within Steam Client. That’s including access to my profile, Inventory... I couldn’t send any messages through Discussions and so on.

Strangely, I could play the games, log into my accound through the client AND any internet browser, even to buy more games, but every now and then, I get these kind of messages:

"Error
There was an error communicating with the Steam servers. Please try again later."

Whereever I click, whenever I do it... it displays this!

It loads my library, I can play (even online), but I cant access my inventory, wishlist, profile and so on. I can't even write in discussions... only in rare occasions, like this one when I opened this thread.

I waited for weeks, but the problem persists. I read numerious pages with users complaining about the same or similar issues, but everything ends with something like „it’s a server issue, wait for a while...“.

But, this advice doesn’t solve the problem!

I tried almost everything I could and I managed to find in discussions and Google:

-logout and login (about 1 milion times)
-login from another device
-clearing the cache
-reinstall client
-repeated everything above with another PC and even third one, but without luck

It’s insane that I bought over 300 games for me and my family and I have limited access to my profile, because of some „server issue“ or something and there is no a single Word about it on your site or anywhere!

My profile is not hacked (I’m an IT guy myself, I have 2-step verification activated and I don’t borrow my credentials to anyone. So, that’s out of question as a possible cause.

Do somebody know - is there any possible way to directly contact steam support, cause they killed all the e-mails for support a long time ago. It's insane that one cannot make any contact with living person. The only "support" is google and community. Is that even legal?

Yeah, this morning (my time) the issue seemed really bad. I typically stay logged in to the Steam client on my PC, but I couldn't get logged in at all on any of my other devices this morning (including my Steam Deck). I hope this isn't an indication that the problem is getting worse...

I think it's interesting that it appears to be happening at the same time regardless of what region we're in. And what's "special" about our accounts? Why does it appear to only occurring to a particular set of Steam accounts? Wish we could get some answers from Steam support...

It seems like some class action lawsuit could make them do their job, for which we are paying them for, through the money we spent here.

If support is not willing to get the work done, maybe we should see them in court.

I'm not planing to sit and relax, while they ignore obviously rising number of stuck accounts.

Just reporting in to say I also have these problems. Since the Winter sale it's almost impossible to use my account. Before that I was having these problems from time to time, gradually appearing more often, but it was manageable. Now it's hell.

Me too, tried posting earlier but couldn't because steam kept saying i needed to set up a community account and suffered a connection error whenever I tried. It's been like this for all of today until now.

Pasting in a post I made on reddit:

The last few months I've had increasing difficulty in logging into my steam account. The client/friends usually logs-in ok. But when I try to view my profile, workshop items, make purchases on the store or wishlist items I am presented with one of two errors:

- "failed loading profile data, please try again later"

- "there was an error communicating with the steam servers. Please try again later"

These errors persist across 3 computers at 2 different addresses and on the steam mobile app when connected over mobile data. When a friend logs in on the same platforms there are no errors whatsoever.

Now it is virtually impossible for me to access any of the steam services other than the basic client and friends list even after dozens of attempts.

When I attempted to raise a support ticket while logged in, the support page said I needed to verify my email. My account page shows it is verified though and I get a connection error when I attempt to edit my account details. I receive steam guard codes through my email rn too, so it must be verified. THIS MEANS I CANT CHANGE THE SECURITY DETAILS OF MY ACCOUNT. I’ve also tried posting to community forums, but it gives me the error ‘you must create a community profile before posting’ and when I click to create one I again receive one of the two errors above.

The OP of this thread seems to have the same issue and has resorted to logging in on a different account to make posts: https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/3729575504109558608/help?

Any ideas? I have massive account data issues, which I can't raise a support ticket for because they also seem to impact steam support's ability to verify my email.

HELP?

thanks,

Hello friends, I bring you the unfortunate answer that STEAM has given me:

As mentioned previously, we can't reproduce this issue, even using your account to do so.

The specific issue you're seeing could be caused by a utility or setting on your machine that's blocking access to some Steam servers related to the hosting of Steam community content. It may also be something specific to your internet connection, most likely your router settings.

We have no further advice to offer here, so this request will be closed.

It is a shame...

Idiots! Even a worm could deduct that this answer is utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I can't believe that every single one of them (obviously) intentionally ommiting the fact that we tried to reproduce that problem with other accounts, too. And, what we concluded so far - that the PC's, networks and/or network adapters has nothing to do with the issue itself. If it do have, it would be impossible not to reproduce it with any account!

What a bunch of morons, I can't believe!

I'm suggesting you to not give up! Open another ticket, and after that another, and another... until someone do something.

I'll do the same! It's my account, my spent money and they must do something to make it work!

I can confirm that the issue seemed worse than usual today. Normally, the issue is gone in the morning here in Australia, but it wasn't the case today. I woke up around 6:50AM/7AM and the issue was still happening, which was definitively not the case before.

Just an interesting note. When I viewing this thread yesterday while suffering problems OPs steam profile had no picture and just a bunch of numbers.

How his picture and name are back and I can post on here too.

I was so glad to see that I'm not the only one running into an absolute tidal wave of issues for the past couple weeks with my account, my profile, and some strange disconnect that seems to be happening between me and Steam's servers.

My husband is in IT, as well, and we've tried just about everything in the book and just about anything you can find in forums and previous posts. We are 100% out of ideas.

When I try launching Steam, whether normally or in admin, it fails to connect and suggests that I diagnose internet connection issues (which we have explored fully), retry (which does nothing but bounce me back out again), or start offline. Starting offline works and I can typically back-door my way into my account by then telling Steam to go online, but that's just where the weirdness starts.

The Winter Sale storefront loads in half of the time, the other half of the time it won't. The popup sale window is blank and displays an error. My library doesn't recognize me as online, so I have to tell it to go online, which typically works, but then I'm hit with strange game sync issues as though Steam sees I'm online, but doesn't recognize me or my library.

When I try to view my profile, I cannot access it at all. It returns a server error.

I was worried about a malicious attack of some sort on my account, so I tried to see my account details, at which point I receive an error. I can see some account information through the website, so I attempted to make sure my email and password weren't compromised somehow. I did all of the suggested steps regarding account security (already had 2-factor on) including a full virus and malware scan and running in admin (which I have already been doing). When I view my email, the email line is blank as though there is no email associated with my account, yet any step I take that sends an email verification goes through to my email with no issue.

I tried to change my email, as was suggested elsewhere, but I get an Error 16 every time I attempt it and cannot get it to go through.

I tried to change my password as part of the fear of a malicious attack of some sort. Again, I get an Error 16 code every time and cannot get a password change to go through.

I tried sending a ticket to Steam Support about all of the above. My email (showing as blank) says that it is Verified, and again, I'm getting emails for verification through to my original email address with no issue, but when I click "Submit" on a Steam Support ticket, it tells me I must have a verified email address to send it and gives me a FAQ suggestion.

So, to review, I exist on Steam, but I don't. I can get to all of the areas where I would expect to be able to apply some change or fix something or reach out for help, but none of them actually work for me due to various errors and issues. At this point, I'm just open to suggestions, but I'm willing to bet I've already tried most of what would be suggested.

I hope this all sounds familiar to the rest of you.

I've also been having similar issues :crying_yeti: luckily i was able to get a response from a support ticket so we'll see where it goes
