Steam server errors all the time!
Hello!

As I couldn't find the way to get support from a living person with my Steam client issues, I decided to make a thread here.

So, here it is:

Recent weeks (or even a month) I’m not able to use all the options within Steam Client. That’s including access to my profile, Inventory... I couldn’t send any messages through Discussions and so on.

Strangely, I could play the games, log into my accound through the client AND any internet browser, even to buy more games, but every now and then, I get these kind of messages:

"Error
There was an error communicating with the Steam servers. Please try again later."

Whereever I click, whenever I do it... it displays this!

It loads my library, I can play (even online), but I cant access my inventory, wishlist, profile and so on. I can't even write in discussions... only in rare occasions, like this one when I opened this thread.

I waited for weeks, but the problem persists. I read numerious pages with users complaining about the same or similar issues, but everything ends with something like „it’s a server issue, wait for a while...“.

But, this advice doesn’t solve the problem!

I tried almost everything I could and I managed to find in discussions and Google:

-logout and login (about 1 milion times)
-login from another device
-clearing the cache
-reinstall client
-repeated everything above with another PC and even third one, but without luck

It’s insane that I bought over 300 games for me and my family and I have limited access to my profile, because of some „server issue“ or something and there is no a single Word about it on your site or anywhere!

My profile is not hacked (I’m an IT guy myself, I have 2-step verification activated and I don’t borrow my credentials to anyone. So, that’s out of question as a possible cause.

Do somebody know - is there any possible way to directly contact steam support, cause they killed all the e-mails for support a long time ago. It's insane that one cannot make any contact with living person. The only "support" is google and community. Is that even legal?

The truth is that this error is quite serious, I feel as if we have "kidnapped" accounts through Steam since they limit our access to Steam for a certain time or hours or we do not have access to the profile, and worst of all, there are more and more users with this issue and Steam cares 0.

The only hope is that they realize it when the Christmas sales end and the Servers hit, if it is not solved we would have a big problem

For me, the phenomenon even more annoying that the issue itself is the ignorance of the support staff and their lack of good will to even read what we wrote in the ticket... not to mention these discussions. Here's the few responses I received so far (and everytime from a different person!):

Regarding your problem, please restart Steam and log back into your account. This should resolve the issue.

If you have any further questions, please let us know - we will be happy to assist you.

After I further explained my problem, the other person answers this:
We understand your frustration and thank you for getting back to us.

However, we see that there was at least one successful login to your Steam account via Steam Client after your help request and it seems like you may have solved this problem already.

If the problem still has not been solved or you have any other questions, please let us know.

But, that's not the end. The team is gathering to produce even more stupid answers:
I'm not seeing any failed login attempts on your account which indicates that something is blocking the connection from your device.

Have you tried to sign in via a web browser and on another device?

In general, it sounds like you’re having network problems.

Network problems can be caused by a variety of things, so please go through our Troubleshooting Network Connectivity article for probable fixes even if it seems like your network is functioning correctly.

We also recommend visiting our Required Ports for Steam article to ensure the required ports for Steam are open. Additionally, our diagnosing and reporting network problems article has information that will help you self-solve different network problems you may be experiencing.

Steam Support is not really the best source for help with in-depth network troubleshooting. Many issues require someone to actually look at your machine or test your network and internet connection under a variety of circumstances, both of which we can't do here.

If you can’t solve the problem with the information in the above articles, the best way to proceed is to try to determine if the problem is with your computer or network, and then talk to a local computer diagnosis/repair shop or your internet service provider respectively.

Good god... :(

I wrote about 500 times what is the problem, but no... they just can't read.

Dont forget serbia nearer EU warzone, traffic in all neigbours zone and next to them can get effect then so many Network user access the lines ( not sure if this is not relevant, it could be. ), this dont make it better, but that has nothing to do with us steam users.

I know your frustration. They don't even read or are willing to address / acknowledge the problem could be at their end.

I got the exact copy paste answer from this Daniel that they think it's local network problems even though I provided them with screenshots and said that even friends only see the numbers and I have the same problems on other peoples network/internet....
What great incompetence :(

(sorry for my english)
OMG I have the same problem as you! 1 in 1
when I read this thread, many of you were with inaccessible accounts
I just "once again" decided to check my account, it came to life. then I went back to the discussions and your accounts also came to life
but either this is a coincidence or our accounts are on some stupid server
I never found out how to fix it. and "valve" apparently don’t care and it’s easier to throw it off on the fact that “the router needs to be configured”, although at such times none of my friends can see my account page.

a guy from serbia as well having the same issue, i don't know why but it is happening for more than a month, but this week things got way out of hand, i couldn't even log in for one whole day, can't use nothing, i appear online to others when having this issue, but nothing more than that. name is numbers, activity nothing, cant post discussions, cant see my steam account details, cant enter my profile via mobile app as well, it is really frustrating, and i dont see it clearing up in the near future.

p.s i really thought that it was only my profile with this issue, because none of my friends had the same struggle, all was fine for them when the bug occured, but it seems this problem targets certain profiles.. idk really..

It is very rare what happens in our accounts (of course there are many affected and there are more and more) that is exactly what happens, our profiles are deactivated, after 5 or 4 hours everything returns to normal. One thing is clear to me since it happens to many of us, it is that it is not the fault of our equipment or network, but of the Steam servers.

PS: Today it was horrible to be able to enter a bit to answer, because my profile did not work at any time until 10:40 p.m. Spanish time and after uninstalling the STEAM APP 2 times !!!

Same issue here just until right now. It has happened consistently every day this whole weekend. Sometimes it won't let me log in, and sometimes it does. I can't access my profile, I sometimes appear disconnected to my friends when this happens, and online play is finnicky (at least on Deep Rock Galactic).

I have two tickets open with support but no clear answer yet. Just this:

Hi, thank you for contacting us.

Our records indicate that you have logged in and played since this message.

Please let me know if you still need help.

When they replied it was working but has borked again twice since then.

LMAO, quite helpful, I doubt you were the first one to report this problem, and I am sure they know about this error, but maybe they don't know how to fix it for now, we are just a minority with this problem, it would be much more problematic if the whole steam had this issue, if they get more reports, maybe they will start to deal with this frustrating problem more seriously.

Support does not write anything useful. Yes, and you can answer them only when the problem (temporarily) disappeared)) That it seems to them that we have small Internet problems. But when the profile is completely unavailable, it is impossible to write to support (when necessary)
Perhaps it would not be bad to collectively contact support. Because it's not normal. At least we invested money here. :chicksad:

exactly this if the problem was at our end our profile would not become unavalible for others aswell as is when this error occurs

I have the same problem as everyone mentioned above. Right now it works like there was never a problem but the last days have been terrible. I cant change or view my profile, buy from store or even view my inventory/wishlist etc. My name turns into my steam ID numbers and my avatar is replaced with a questionmark. I already sent a ticket to support but no answer yet. I am in Germany and around 11 PM my time my profile started working again. When my profile is down, I see all of your profiles down too. When mine is up, I can see your profiles again too. I also tried many things listed above aswell. Nothing worked or fixed my problem.
