Can I run Rust with an underpowered CPU
Im planning on buying Rust and all my specs easily meet the minimum specs even the recommended specs but i have a i5 8400 but it says minimum is i7 3770. Will steam let me load the game even with me not meeting the cpu requirement or will it just run worse.

And please dont respond to this if you cant form your comment in a respectful way we dont care if you are having a bad day :)

It's NOT worse. Go look up these two on a benchmark site.

steam will let you download the game onto a computer that cant run the game, it does not check to see if you meet the games requirements. the game may check when you try to run it, it may just crash your system because the computer cant handle it.

if your system doesnt meet the min requirements, dont buy the game, you are not going to enjoy the results (your computer is not going to be happy)

You won't get an Idea until you use a benchmark site, or bite the bullet and see if the game works. You could try "Can you run it?" Which I will leave a link to below.

i7 3770 is outdated. While the i5 has no hyperthreading, it only lacks two threads in comparison to the i7 3770.

However, the TRUE issue is that Rust is a single-threaded game.

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html
According to them:
i7 3770 is at 2,071 pts
i5 8400 is at 2,396 pts

you're fine.

This is why when people say i3 i5 i7 i9 it doesn't mean anything without the gen nor model. Use the link in post #5 to compare CPUs in the future but stick to comparing Intel with Intel and AMD with AMD to avoid any cross brand biases

For GPU you can use this one. Again stick with comparing Nvidia with Nvidia and AMD with AMD to avoid any cross brand biases

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
