Game Awards, Steam Deck, and my Participation Record

I stayed up and watch the Game Awards till the very end at 5 am for two reasons:
- The Game Awards is fun.
- Potential to win a Steam Deck!

I went onto steam.tv to watch, having registered some time ago, and about over an hour in major technical issues started happening. Stream straight up crashing, chat crashing, error code 502 Bad Gateway, Stream just getting stuck endlessly on loading.

It did get fixed eventually, it seemed, and I could just keep watching.

I didn't win a Steam Deck. I'm was not surprised by that at all, because the odds were never good, and I would've left it at that if I hadn't figured out you can check your account for participation in giveaways and events.

According to my account, I only watched for 3180 seconds! That's less than an hour! My participation record states I entered at 01:04:04, started at 01:16:05, and stopped watching at 01:42:07. So it registered me watching up to when the issues started and then not at all afterwards, even when the stream worked again!

I knew my odds were next to none, but now I just feel robbed from any chance at all!
There isn't even any way I can make a support ticket about it!
This feels bad. Real bad.

It's found in two places. Total watch time, in seconds is found in:
Support > My Account > Data Related to Your Steam Account > Viewed Broadcasts

Event participation data is found in:
Support > My Account > Data Related to Your Steam Account > Loot Drops and Giveaway Participations

Well, you know what its more of a big piece of BS? Needing to be either from US, Canada or EU to at least have a chance to get it...
Guess only these countries have gamers who spend $ into this store...

It seemed Valve was only giving away Steam Decks in countries where they had supplies in depot. May have been logistically too expensive to include EVERY country.

4 accounts registered for the giveaway.

Two of those never ever registered they watched the giveaway... although all four accounts were going.

The other 2 only registered about 25-35 minutes of watching, although ALL four accounts watched it in it's entirety.

Typical Valve "non-event" excluding many people because of Valve's own screw-ups.

The saddest aspect of this is, it's not surprising at all. It usually take a few days during a sale event before things get sorted... WHY would anyone ever think this event would go smoothly with only a couple hours and what appears to be NO preparation.

and then try to set up a stream of the event

I had to work the next day. It feels a bit like a betrayal having stayed up so late for a system that never even acknowledged it.

I'm complaining to valve and steam deck on twitter, but I doubt anything will come from it.
I read that nobody from valve actually reads these forums... So... Eh...
