What kind of customer service is that?
Also, buying a game on Steam does not include any "right" of access to the forums of said game.
The game forums on Steam are run by the game companies and they have total control over them, including deciding what is banworthy.
You had access, broke the rules, got banned.
Again, DEAL WITH IT.
You can still play the game fine. Also there are dozens of non official forums out there where you can discuss the game.
I didn't break any rules - as I have pointed out repeatedly
Which makes this whole situation DISCRIMINATION
Which basically means it's a Hate Crime
Whatever you expected to reach with this thread is not going to happen.
Registering my indignation one more time following the discovery today that FF have discriminated against me (a paying customer) again is what I expected to achieve
Because I've put up with forum moderators and internet censorship for decades and it's getting worse and people need to challenge it head on
I bought the game to grow into an online community with the game - this was and is part of the package for me - blocking me from accessing the forums (therefore) is a forfeit of services rendered (as far as I'm concerned!) AND discrimination!
I paged through your post history a bit to see what you might have said that was so egregious that they banned you.
Honestly, I couldn't really find much. The nastiest stuff was all post ban. You certainly took getting banned hard. Perhaps the ban-worthy posts were deleted.
Though in the end it really doesn't matter much. Even if you were the nicest person on the planet and never said anything that could possibly offend anyone, a developer has full authority over their own Steam community. They could ban you because they don't like snakes, and you have "adder" in your name. You have zero recourse I'm afraid.
You can try Reddit.
https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/
And perhaps re-examine your conduct to find out what it is that offends so much. I wish I could point to one particular thing you said that stands out as the reason, but I can't, other than perhaps don't call people "knob-ends".
How's that working out for Twitter these days - now they have been exposed as collaborating with governments to censor and deplatform?
Not saying this applies here but Private Companies are still bound by the law and Discrimination is Discrimination - unless Frontier or Steam have a valid reason for banning me from the Elite Forums then it's discrimination. It's still discrimination.
Good idea
What was I doing?
Asking a question - as a paid customer
Discrimination - based on what? My Age? My superior intellect? My unwillingness to roll over and take their b.s?
Hmm, another issue with moderation.
You seem to experience that a lot.
It's difficult to discriminate on the Internet. Unless you specifically tell people, we have no idea what your age, gender, or sexual orientation is, or any other protected category. Even if you did tell us, that means nothing. Anyone can say anything.
You could attempt to bring forth a discrimination lawsuit, but the onus would be on you to prove discrimination. How can you prove that the reason you were banned was due to the perception that you are a member of a protected category?
You can do what you want, but my own personal recommendation is for you to do some soul searching and find out what it is about your conduct that others seem to find so repulsive. Thousands or millions of people use forums, message boards, and social media sites all the time with no issues, yet you seem to run afoul of moderation frequently.
Mate - everybody has issues with internet moderators these days - everywhere. I left Reddit because their early behaviour threw up major red flags and I decided to swerve a bullet, ie. not waste any more of my time posting up content that some dhead behind a computer screen somewhere is just going to click away because of some garbage reason that I probably do not adhere to
But thanks anyway for boring me with the old "have you ever thought it might be you?" trope
Discrimination can be against an individual for an unspecified reason - without a valid reason for acting in this way towards me it is the default explanation
My own personal position on this fundamentally is that banning members who have paid money to a company for espousing negative criticism against the company is not justified. This kind of action should only be taken for something egregious
These morons who sit behind their screen on their little power trips don't know anything about those they are banning, people who might not have much contact with other people and perhaps derive much of their social interaction online
So kind of Frontier to act like this towards me on Hogmanay while I was having a quiet, boring night in with my elderly mother who I care for - I guess some of these mod idiots are young Gen Z game boys (and girls) who think they know everything and have the moral high ground because they're been given a little bit of power
I'm here saying these things because I'm in the right and both Steam and Frontier own me an apology
