Can't change password Logged out of mobile steam app
I got logged out of the steam app for an unknown reason and i stay logged in on the mobile app and the steam client. Well after staying logged in for so long i forgot my password. So i went through the steam client on my pc (which i am still logged into) and went to settings and then change password.

Well it sent a confirmation number to my steam app that i have to confirm on the confirmation page of the app. Well if you are logged out on the app you can not access that page as the 3 bars are not on the login page.

So how can i reset my password if i can't confirm the code? Do i have to remove the authenticator in order to change my password if so that is really dumb.

And no i will not update to the new version of the steam android app. I have never update apps turned on in google play so it don't update.

I just want to change my password i don't want to remove anything.

Like i said i am logged in right now in the client. And like i also said i don't want to update to the new version of the steam app it is a hot mess. And i also said i don't want to remove anything.
Maybe change steam guard to email, with help of phone number. (Market restrictions or so, if you care about that, read first. This is only to solve the problem you decsribed.)

I don't see that option when i go to change my password i get these 2 options.

Send confirmation to my mobile app.

And

I no longer have access to my steam guard mobile authenticator.
Then try the second option. Its likely with phone then.
It's not an old phone and it's running android 12. I'll remove it and risk a 2 week ban.

If you dont know the password you lost access to the guard app.
You need to disable it (aka change to email auth or setting up a new one. Both with phone number steps)
I was logged in yesterday but when i was at work and opened up the app it logged me out for no reason at all. Since i never lose my phone and i'm the only one that is allowed to touch my pc at my house wife and kids got their own pc i keep my self logged in with remember me. Well after a while of not using my password i forgot it since it was 32 characters long.

Your phone number enables you to switch to email auth.
Or backup codes would help you.

You want to change password with email. And then setup steam guard app again. If you want to use it.
That is what i was afraid of having to remove it to change my password. They make it so freaking complicated.

If you could do it without access to your auth app, it would not be safe.
What you see as complicated is the option to handle your situation on your own, without need to contact support to help you out

I wasn't going to contact support when it was easier to ask here. Last time i changed my password for steam was 2 years ago. Which is a big security risk. But i forgot to change being i was auto signing in on both pc and phone.
