How long does that take? Because that was yesterday

When they get around to it.
Do you have the receipt from the store where you purchased it? The store has to activate that card (different code not hidden by the scratch-off). You could go back and exchange it saying this one is broken. I'm certain they have a way to validate if its been "used", but they really have to toss that card off since its been scratched.
D0 keep In mind thet some numbers 1ook like letter5. (and they picked a horrible font for the code that makes it hard to be certain sometimes)

I had similar issue before from Wallmart.com.
It appeared that Wallmart did not activate the Steam gift card.

I'd suggest follow up:
A1) Steam support
A2) Retail store
A3) Credit card company as unusable product, purchase protection or part of faud to A2)

In my case, it was purchased from Wallmart gift card account.
So I could not contact to A3) and used legal services.
Wallmart refunded me after legal service contacted.
It took extra time.

So I'd suggest to use credit card to have extra protection.

That would produce a different error altogether.
