Xbox One Controller "View" button quit working in game

The View button (the one to the left of the Guide button) quit working in all of my steam games. I mainly use the controller during remote play using the "gamepad" configuration. It works in the big picture mode and I can hold it to bring up steam menu to change control style, pushing it twice quickly in game brings up the steam overlay for game configuration, so I know the button works. But for some reason it does not work in game to access the menu or other items (even when the game prompts me to use that button). It used to work, I don't know what changed and can't find a setting to fix it. All other buttons work perfectly.

Ive been having weird issues like this off and on for a couple of weeks, and I even opted out of the beta.

Restarting Steam seems to correct the issues Ive been seeing like this.

As I use the xBox one or xBox series X game pad during the steam-link-app, it shows strange behaviour since the last week with the select button (left under the big lit X). Showing the map in AC Origins and Odyssey before, it nows shows steam-options overlay. To get the map I need to push the selct-button first and than "B" right afterwards.
It works fine in steam on pc itself.
