I am getting a (content still encrypted) error trying to install Skyrim
I finally get my computer back up and running after a myriad of trouble and can't install the one thing I want on it... lol... What is this? I have been able to install from the cd before, but tonight I seem to be stuck doing it all online, so far I have never been able to install Skyrim from steam successfully it takes all night and something always goes wrong before it is finished, the cd install only takes a few minutes though... How do I bypass the Steam install and install from the cd?
.
I will say, I managed to get Oblivion to install on another computer the other day from steam, and it is awesome, wayyy better than the version on the cd, too bad it is my youngest sons computer.... I haven't gotten to try it out yet, but it looks cool...

Check those:
Programs Which May Interfere with Steam (Link)
Spyware, Malware, Adware, or Viruses Interfering with Steam (Link)
Troubleshooting Network Connectivity (Link)

Installing Skyrim from the DVD is rather pointless as that data is massively outdated and would be replaced by Steam anyway when it downloads the updated files. So it just skips them instead.

I am trying to download from Steam tonight again, with any luck I may be able to get it... No problems with malware, it is a brand new fresh install, I just replaced my hard drive. The last three computers I have attempted to download from Steam on are also brand new fresh systems. My biggest problems have been glitchy internet, simply a fact of life on Wild Blue sattellite internet and things trying to auto update on my computer.

I fell asleep around 8pm and have now slept until just after midnight, so I have already gotten an entire nights sleep, so I will stay up and watch over the download through the night and maybe I can get it to work this time. I have never downloaded any of the Steam updates other than initial install of Steam of Steam or when it does it trying ti install a game, I just can't afford the bandwidth, I have 10 gigs a month of total bandwidth. Once I get Steam installed I make sure and disable it in the startup and make sure it gets turned off before I plug in the internet, this keeps it from ever updating and using up all the bandwidth. I keep all other auto update turned off as well, but winbdows update especially seems to be able to run even when it is turned off.

With any luck I can get Skyrim tonight, and then if I am really lucky, I can get the Oblivion tomorrow. I already loaded on Moirrowind, I tried the Morrowind doenload from Steam the other day, it was cool because I was able to use Blood Moon, which I normally cannot get to run, but it made all my water wired and bright white and I noticed I cannot use the TES editor on the files, so no point in playing the Steam version of that, I much prefer my own modded version...

Just restart steam, I was trying to install The Walking Dead: Season 2 and it wouldn't work (error: content still encrypted) so I closed steam and restarted it and I tried to install the game and it worked. Hopefully this helps u

Man I thought this warband collection cd I bought would be stand alone, I have to friggin attach to Steam to install the dam thing... The person that thought up this Steam crap needs to be shot.... I am really going to have to research games much better to avoid buying ones that have anything to do with Steam. Steam is like the bane of my friggin existence, man it sucks.... This damn game wouldn't install unless I was attached to Steam which then required an updating of Steam files which uses up precious bandwidth, we have a total of 10 gigs bandwidth a month. Then it starts to download from "Steam" rather than off the cd, so I disconnect from the internet and handily it installs from the cd like it does with Skyrim. But when you go to play it is unable to connect and gives me an error, and even after reconnecting it still gives me the error. I think I am just going to have the tell the kids they are out of luck on this game. I don't think I have the patience to deal with Steams crap on yet another game... Thanks azzhats...
