Accidental chargeback, bank cannot revert because investigation closed. Can I re-charge purchases on another card?
So my mother had a lot of fraudulent charges on her credit card, so she did some charge-backs and accidentally charge-backed some legitimate Steam purchases. I contacted the credit card company as directed, but they said they cannot revert the charge-backs because they already closed the investigation. Is it at all possible to have steam charge a different credit card instead?
If not, what can I do?

My purchasing and key code activation has been disabled for nine weeks. There's no way I can wait that long to play Dark Souls III.

I would recommend NOT saving your card information on steam whatsoever but keep steam guard on. Always have malwarebytes as a virus protector and avoid trades. I also recommend using a different card such as a pre paid card. Safer that way, you can reload it.

Not what he is talking about...

OP you have to contact steam support but I believe the correction of a charge back does have to be with the original card.
the bank is not the one to reverse chargebacks , it's up to your mom , and the 9 weeks is your window to make good on the charges .
dont use others credit cards .
i doubt the chargebacks were an accident , sounds more like mom caught you and isnt going to pay for your toys
My understanding was that the only option was a chargeback from the original card due to to extra fees Steam was forced to pay when the chargeback occurred.

I would try as fauxtronic said though, as you have nothing to lose at this point. If they do allow it, you may end out paying more that just the cost of the games that were charged back though(cover the extra money).
Your mother has to reverse her disputes in relation to your purchases and if this isn't possible because the bank have closed the case; your account could be permanently suspended unless Support are willing to accept alternative negotiation for paying the money back through a different payment method. The money has to be paid back within 9 weeks regardless.

As other have mentioned , it becomes permanent after 9 weeks if you don't reverse the chargeback and then contact steam support to confirm you have done so.

After 9 weeks if you don't resolve it you still wont be playing DS3 on this steam account.
yo cee jay how did u end up solving this im facing the same thing rn
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
