Slow disk speeds in Linux
Hey guys!
I'm not gonna explain the whole story but I basically have linux installed on a 32gb usb stick and I'm using another 32gb stick with a steam library on it to have extra storage for games. So I tried to install a first game on this extra disk (CS:GO) and well.... The network speeds are great but after 5 mins, the download stops to write on the disk. At the start, I get around 1,4mbps write speeds but after 2-3 mins it goes down to about 1kbps... I have to pause the download, wait for 10 to 15 minutes then restart it........ Does anyone know what could cause this or how to solve the issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

PS: Also posting this on ask ubuntu

Pendrives are slow and not suited for constant write/read things.
Sounds like your flash drive is overheating.

Flash drives are not designed for that kind of usage.
But the thing is, recently I made a raid 0 array with two usb drives and it worked fine
Raid 0 nor 1 nor any other won't make usb flash drive become a full fledged hard drive.

While installing something the system will wait for the drive to become ready to take another portion of data to write, the same with downloading. There's no fix for that other than getting an usb stick with better r/w performance or portable 2.5inch HDD.
